Basements

Sansom fields many enquiries regarding leaking basement walls and floors. Leaking is likely to be due to:

  • Failed tanking membrane beneath the ground on the outside face
  • Movement within the basement wall and floors causing stress on the tanking membrane
  • Penetrations for cables or drainage pipe work being inadequately sealed.
  • Blocked field drainage systems

A range of solutions are available, but by far the best solution is to excavate and apply a meaningful tanking membrane to exterior wall, and ensure ground drainage systems are functioning.

Repair systems from the interior face include:

  • Grouting voids beyond the wall
  • Injecting resins into the matrix of the walls and floor
  • Coating of the walls with a specialised epoxy coating
