DATE OF PROJECT 2026
LOCATION Eden Park Stadium, Mount Eden
CONTRACTOR Naylor Love
Sansom has applied a non-slip coating system to the side stairways of a corporate box at Eden Park Stadium, part of a wider revamp being carried out by main contractor Naylor Love. The stairway provides access up into the corporate box from the field side at the end of the try line.
The scope covered grinding and preparation of the existing stairs, patching any holes or defects, and priming with Sikafloor 151 before broadcasting sand into the surface to build in slip resistance. Two coats of Sika 400N were then applied to seal and lock the system in.
The project ran to a tight timeframe, with the wider site operating 24/7 to meet its completion deadline. Working outdoors in a windy, exposed environment, with a number of concurrent trades on site, meant the coating needed careful protection while it cured to ensure the application was successful.
Careful sequencing and site coordination kept the surface clean and protected throughout the curing process, delivering a durable, non-slip finish for a high-traffic access point at one of New Zealand’s most iconic stadiums.
